New Year's Goals 2012!!
I did pretty well in 2011, so let's keep it going
1) See something amazing (very ambiguous, no?)
2) Visit 2 distant friends (because friends are important and travel is fun)
3) Read another 10 books (I just finished #10 Dec. 27 this last time. This is a goal worth repeating for me)
4) Go to the beach at least 8 times (since there are 8 months of good weather in Florida, I should make this happen. Pathetically, I only went to the beach once last year. WTH!? I need to make a change)
5) Appear in a play or do some public performance (time to get out there)
Here's to a great 2012--Cheers! I wish all my blog readers a wonderful new year filled with happiness and satisfaction in life. Let's make it happen

You were in Takamatsu?! Nice You can help my buddies and I settle an argument. I said Takamatsu would be a great JET location because it's close enough to Honshuu, surrounded by nature, and because it is a bit isolated the JET community would be really tight nit. My buddies said the city felt too lonely and that it was too far away from the big city lights. So what did you think?
@coolnahalf - OMG, you are 100% right! Because Kagawa is the smallest ken, Takamatsu is only a little more than an hour away from even the most remote parts of the prefecture. For this reason, I met with friends regularly in Tak--people were pretty tight-nit. To a country girl like me, Takamatsu WAS the big city lights. I lived an hour slow train east on the beach. It probably just felt lonely because it is the winter. In the summer, it is bursting with people everywhere-- especially around the huge shotengai. Also, it is a short ferry ride to Kobe or an even shorter train ride to Okayama where you can pick up the shinkansen. Of course there are highway buses to everywhere; KIX, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto, and the other major cities in Shikoku. I went to the Kansai region pretty frequently for some fun (also my old host family lives in Kyoto, so I have a place to crash). They should feel bad for the JETs in Kochi.
