Two Mormon missionaries stopped by my apartment last night. (The first time they've come around to my place!)
I know what you are thinking, "groan....." But, I actually kinda like the Mormons. The Mormons I've met have always been super nice, well educated, and all-around OK people. One of them complimented me on my outfit, which means that at least one has really good taste in fashion too. I mean, there's no way I'll ever, ever, ever join them, but I don't look down on them or go out of my way to avoid them like perhaps many other Americans might do. I simply told them that, Yes, I have talked to Mormons before, yes, I do have a copy of The Book of Mormon, but I'm already in my own faith, etc etc.(all true)If I were a little more bored I would have offered for them to come in for a beer
, but I was on my way to ballet. They did ask if I knew anyone who might be interested. I would like to invite EVERYONE in my address book to thank me for not doing something very passive-aggressive to you. ha ha ha ha ha. just kiddingBefore they left, one of them asked me if I'd ever prayed about whether or not the Book of Mormon was true. I said no (truth) and then she asked me if I would. So I actually did. What the hell, right?
All I had last night was a nightmare about signing up to run a marathon and everything went wrong. First one side of my face became paralyzed, then I had laryngitis, then my knee hurt, then I couldn't find the starting line because the location had been changed, then once the new location was agreed upon they started without me. I tried to catch up, but there was so much traffic and a circus and a rodeo got in my way. Then my family was angry with me. By the time I was really running, it started to thunderstorm. Then I got lost and my shoes were wet.
I take the whole incident to mean at least one of the following top 5 things:
1) The Mormons came as a reminder to repent before Lent
2) If that dream was the answer as to whether Mormonism is true or not... I guess I'm going to go with it's not right for me
3) Fewer White Russian nightcaps and vampire movies might be in order before bedtime. That dream was the pinnacle of stress dreams. (hhmmm maybe there is something to Mormonism)
4) I should start jogging more
5) I am determined to "run the race" no matter what! What do you think?

Good job at being nice to the Mormons. Your right, a lot of people aren't.
We have Jehovah's Witnesses come by every couple of weeks year round (even in the snowiest cold!) and in the summer lots of door-to-door sales people come to visit.
I'm not so crazy about the door-to-door sales, but I really respect people that put themselves out there for what they believe, whether it is for religion, politics, raising money for their charity, etc. Props to you for being nice.
Are you sure those weren't zombies?
One of my best friends in high school was Mormon, and I'm totally fascinated by the religion (from a historical and sociological point of view), but like you, would not consider converting for numerous reasons. Glad you stepped up to the plate and being hospitible (especially when unwanted/unexpected visitors always seem to pop by when you're tired or busy). =)
